We recently had the chance to do a stainless steel elevator conveyor project with the well-known Maritime’s chocolate producer, Ganong Bros. They are the oldest candy company in Canada and were founded back in 1873 in St Stephen’s where they are still located today.
The project consisted of custom designed, custom built, dual stainless steel elevator conveyors to feed a packaging machine. Both conveyors use a modular plastic belt equipped with paddles to bring the product from the manually loaded hoppers on the base of the conveyors to the loading scale at the top of the packaging machine. Sensors are used to turn the conveyors on and off as product is required by the packaging machine. Each conveyor can bring up to 75,000 pieces of chocolate to the scale in an 8h shift. That’s a LOT of chocolate.
The staff at Ganong was great to work with, and even with a tight timeline, the project was a great success.
